First responders were called on Friday afternoon to a home in the 11500 block of Highview Avenue in North Kensington, where there was an automatic alarm that activated.
According to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, upon arrival, crews were met by smoke coming from the roof and doors, prompting a call for additional units.
In total, upwards of 50 firefighters responded to the home.
Firefighters were able to rescue one person who was found unconscious in the home and was rushed to the hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. Her condition was not available on Saturday morning.
Several pets were also located and removed from the smoldering home.
